Pretty in Peacock

It’s hard to imagine a color prettier than peacock blue. Statement-making and sophisticated yet also calming and somewhat of a chameleon, as the above space by New Orleans’s MMR Interiors shows, it’s an ideal hue to take interiors to the next level.

Houston-based interior designer Meg Lonergan creates elegant rooms with plenty of personality. Here, she adds a pop of color with a peacock blue-upholstered chair and ottoman that echo an eye-catching sconce.

Meg Lonergan picked peacock again in this living room, incorporating a lovely blue sofa and cabinet that set off the peachy hue of the drapes and red tones of the rug.

The stunning sofa featured in the above space that Atlanta’s McAlpine, Booth & Ferrier designed for the W Showhouse beautifully complements the dark tones of the surrounding art and elements and adds a wonderful texture to the mix.

In a bedroom by Alexandria, Virginia-based design firm Ivy Lane, a tufted peacock blue headboard bearing gorgeous details adds a sense of drama. We love how the hue is beautifully paired with browns, creating an elegant contrast.

We could go on and on about the beauty of blue and white (in fact, we have!), but the above image from New Orleans’s Leontine Linen’s instagram showcasing how Nathan Turner incorporated their linens into a project featured in House Beautiful (above left) does the job for us, as does the living room by Palm Beach-based Katherine Shenaman Interiors’s “Palmo Way” project (above, right). And the “Manet” chair from Atlanta’s Bungalow Classic would add a refreshing dash of blue to any space.

Speaking of pretty peacock accents, here are a few of our favorites: Jade green and gold lamp available from New Orleans’s Shaun Smith Home // Mottahedeh green lace china available from L.V. Harkness // 24” overdyed pillow available from Houston’s Mela & Roam.

Here, vases on the turquoise side of the spectrum atop gilded shelves in a living room by Atlanta’s Robert Brown Interiors flank an abstract painting, drawing the eye up and adding interest to a large living room wall.
